Soil preparation
- Prepare well-drained soil rich in organic matter.
- Add compost to improve soil fertility.
- Ensure the soil pH is between 6.0 and 7.0.
- Avoid heavy clay soils that retain too much water.
- Till the soil to a depth of 15 cm before planting.
Planting
- Plant garlic cloves in the fall, before the first frost.
- Place the cloves about 5 cm deep, with the pointed end up.
- Leave 15 cm of space between each clove for proper growth.
Watering
- Water regularly, but avoid overwatering to prevent rot.
- Reduce watering in summer when the stems begin to wilt.
- Use mulch to retain moisture and control weeds.
Harvesting
- Harvest garlic when the leaves begin to yellow and wilt.
- Carefully dig up the garlic heads with a fork.
- Allow garlic to dry in the open air for 2 to 3 weeks before storing.
